Blood Cancer Awareness Month comes each September, as The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society aims to raise awareness about the blood cancers of leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, and Hodgkin’s disease.
Blood cancers account for nearly one in every 10 new cancer diagnoses and rank as the third cause of cancer deaths in the United States. All told, 1.3 million Americans currently live with or are in remission from a blood cancer.
Yet, patients are living longer all the time, in part due to advances with immunotherapy, genomics, and personalized medicine.
Treatment for blood cancers depend on many factors, including the type of cancer, how fast the cancer is progressing, and whether it has metastasized. In addition to chemotherapy, radiation, targeted therapies, stem cell transplantation, and surgery – infusion treatments with immunotherapy medications provide hope and positive outcomes for many patients.
The pharmacists and staff at BioPlus Specialty Pharmacy are available to help you and your cancer patients. Refer your patients today for ‘fast & easy’ service as well as a caring and reliable specialty pharmacy partner for the journey ahead, including for infusion services.
